A big thanks to Simon Lee for initiating the get-together on Saturday down at Well Hill. It was a lovely evening and a welcome opportunity for villagers to meet up.

Summer Social

Posted on 27th July 2020, by Editor . No Comments

Just a reminder of our informal social gathering this Saturday 1st August for those that feel ready to get together (whilst observing social distancing) and to see some faces not seen for a while.  It’ll also be good to get some fresh air and admire the glorious view from Well Hill.  The weather is looking […]

John Hatherell

Posted on 26th July 2020, by Editor . 2 comments

Tom has asked me to inform the village that his father, John Hatherell, died peacefully at home on 13 July aged 82 years. He lived at Westonbirt with his wife, Margaret, but for many years they lived at Burden Court.  They did a lot for the village, including funding the repair of a church window […]

Thank You

Posted on 29th June 2020, by Editor . 3 comments

You may remember it was suggested that when life normalises we might have a ‘thank you’ section where villagers can flag up those shops, organisations or people (who have consented to be named or are just thanked anonymously) who, with or without volunteers, have been going so far out of their way to bring us […]

Improving Communication 2

Posted on 18th June 2020, by Editor . No Comments

Further to Simon’s previous post, Improving Communication of 18 May, the website has undergone some changes made by Broadbean Digital. We hope you like them. Commercial features, which were introduced to enable us to sell event tickets, have been pushed into the background because they were giving the wrong feel to the website. The Categories […]

Highway Gardener

I would like to say what a pleasure it is to see the flowers which started appearing seasonally near the post box around the start of the lockdown. The primroses were lovely, and then some planters appeared in the spring drought, and now there are some richly coloured pansies as well. This used to be […]

Jean Gill

Our dear friend and neighbour, Jean Gill, died peacefully in her sleep, in a Bristol care home on the night of 25th May.  She was 89 years old. Jean and her husband, Tony moved to Woodpecker Cottage, Tresham in 1985.  The large garden appealed to them. When they arrived, the garden was laid to grass […]

Improving Communication

Posted on 18th May 2020, by Editor . 1 Comment

We’ve seen the success of the Tresham Support Group via WhatsApp and long may this continue, hopefully well beyond the current situation.  On the back of this community initiative we have secured a small grant via the Parish Council and District Councils to support community adhesion. Whilst the WhatsApp group has been a success especially […]

Helen in Costa Rica

Posted on 6th May 2020, by Editor . 4 comments

Many villagers will remember Helen Evans who, until September 2016, lived in Farage Cottage.  After her father died Helen moved to Cardiff and from there to Herefordshire.  In September 2019 she went to live in Costa Rica. Helen was recently asked by Anne Stark, Editor of the Hallow Parish Magazine, Worcester, to write an article […]

Village History

Posted on 4th May 2020, by Editor . 2 comments

I have been able to add to the website quite a lot of history about the village, entirely due to the memories and research of Michael Gardner, Jim McKenzie and Simon Lee. So if you would like a little light relief during the ‘lockdown’, read about the community buildings which used to thrive here years […]
