On July 25^th 2026 the Kingstons opened their garden again for residents to bring their own picnic and hear the HarleyQuintet brass ensemble play our chosen songs. It was a lovely concert and everyone enjoyed it immensely, including a number of families with young children who had space to play very actively. The group put on the concert as a ‘thank you’ for the loan of the church for their rehearsals through the year. Donations were invited, which were divided between Longfield, our local hospice service, and Tresham Church.

On September 6^th 2026, we enjoyed a beautifully decorated church for a lovely All-comers Harvest Festival service, taken by Archdeacon Katrina. She told us the story of the making and sharing of Stone Soup. With the active help of a number of children, including one who with her father had written a poem inspired by John Betjeman’s one (published in ‘Poems from the Porch’) about a hungry church mouse, we celebrated Tresham’s own harvest and all our food. Her mouse poem is now, appropriately, on the noticeboard in our porch. The collection was divided between Stroud Food Bank (which also received the donated food) and Tresham Church.

On September 20^th 2026, there was a wonderful village BBQ, organised by our Village Hall social committee and held on Well Hill. They arranged perfect weather as well as non-stop delicious and perfectly cooked beefburgers and sausages with all the trimmings. There was magnificent music throughout from our excellent musicians who were tireless in their efforts, including singing. It was a wonderful day, with the view and the music and space for play, as well as our tiny spring-stream alongside which even the younger children could safely try to dam up.  Any excess in donations will go towards the next event.
