Quiz Night

Quiz Night

The church pews were filled with village quizzers on the evening of the 14th March.  With glasses charged, the quiz kicked off with the science and nature round.  The ten teams locked horns and the competition began.  The teams were challenged throughout the evening with knowledge on varying subjects including; entertainment, geography, music and the human anatomy.  The evening was full of banter, with many suggesting that healthcare professionals present should be excluded from the human anatomy round.

Halfway through the quiz we took a break, satisfied appetites, caught up with villagers and of course topped up glasses.  It was great being together and the competition was neck and neck throughout.  Each team had the opportunity to play the joker on what they thought was their strongest subject so several teams enjoyed the lead at some point.  A picture round proved quite tricky as did the true or false and 1970s rounds.  Going into the home straight four teams were within a couple of points of each other.  The final round covered sport and the team consisting of Lesley, Anne, Alma and Annette had a stormer and emerged as clear victors.

They took away the Tresham hamper with the team coming last, who will remain anonymous, won the wooden spoon prize.

In addition, we held a raffle.  The Fleece at Hillesley kindly donated a dinner for two, which was the prize.  In total we raised over £150.  This enabled us to make a donation to the church finances as well as keep some for future village activities.  Thank you to all who joined in or contributed in any way.

It was a wonderful evening and everyone joined in the light hearted, yet competitive spirit.  The church proved to be a good venue and we  look forward to the next social event there.  Ideas are welcome for what we do next.  Please let me know.  Maybe we just have another quiz!

    • Thanks Colin. I hear you are an expert bingo caller….. How about bingo, cheese and wine (and/or cider) for the next one?
