Queens Platinum Jubilee – Tresham Beacon etc

Beacon

The Tresham beacon, part of the national network celebrating the Queen’s platinum jubilee will be lit at about 9:30pm on Thursday 2nd June.  Tom Hatherell has kindly offered to build the beacon in his field which can be accessed via the footpath to Leighterton leaving Tresham by Corner Cottage.  Cross the stile and gate by Top Cottage, walk about halfway through the first field and then turn left along an agricultural track towards the beacon which will be built of straw bales.

Commemorative Tree Planting

A commemorative beech tree will be planted on the village pound, which will be cleared and turned into a small garden.  A short tree planting ceremony is planned just before the street party on Sunday 5th June.

Exhibition in Church

Please don’t forget to start gathering any old Tresham photos and memorabilia which will be displayed in the church as part of the celebration.

Street Party

As you may have seen, road closure notices have been posted.  The road will be closed from 9am to 6pm on Sunday 5th June, although we must be prepared to allow access for emergency vehicles and the milk tanker, if necessary.

We can start to set up tables etc, decorate the lay-by and Well Hill garden with flags and bunting (all contributions welcome) from 9am, with the street party starting at around 12pm, after the monthly service in church.
