Fibre Update 2

Posted on January 6th, by Editor in Roads and Utilities. 7 comments

People were wondering why the road closure notice has been extended.

Ben Stone tells me:

“that Gigaclear need to fix some blocked ducts which prevent connection POTs (the black box on the road outside your house) being declared ready for service (RFS) by the contractor.  Before this happens, they have to run duct testing and when faults are identified these need to be fixed.  In this case it requires a road closure notice to enable the crews to complete the work safely.

This work is likely to run until the end of the notice which is 17 Jan.”

Hopefully, soon after that date those who have registered should get notified their connection POT is RFS and they can then use Gigaclear’s website to order a service.  You can register by going to their webpage and entering your details at ‘Can I Get Gigaclear?’

I am trying to find out how long it takes between ordering for service and going ‘live’.

  1. Eileen, I don’t think they have started the remedial works mentioned above, let alone finished them yet.

  2. Because they were expecting to be working on it sometime between last week and the end of the coming week, i.e. up to the 17th.

  3. I haven’t forgotten when last the road was closed, an ambulance couldn’t get through to my husband. But at least it was only closed when they were working , not whilst they were thinking about it. Also they have left a bag of something on the verge here. Sloppy workmanship..
